Peter’s storyPeter Vanderkaay was first diagnosed with asthma around the age of 10. But that didn’t stop his parents or his coaches from encouraging Peter to stay in the pool and follow his dreams. In 2004, Peter’s dreams came true in Athens, Greece. As a member of the men’s 4 x 200m relay team, Peter understands how far teamwork can take you. The same is true when it comes to controlling his asthma. “When I first started swimming at a high level, I realized that a lot of athletes have asthma and it’s something they deal with on a day-to-day basis. I had the support of my coach and my doctors, and I think that made a big difference.” |
